Step 1: He hears the doorbell, his owner calls out, "Just a minute" (which alerts Gizmo to the fact that he has a job to do).
Step 2: The owner says, "Gizmo, spot," and Gizmo sits in front of the door and waits for it to be opened.
Step 3: His owner greets the guest and introduces him to Gizmo.
Step 4: Then the owner says, "Gizmo, place" and Gizmo goes to a designated area where he must stay until his owner calls him.
Step 5: The owner and the guest are seated and the owner says, "OK, Gizmo." Gizmo comes to greet the guest.
This is Gizmo. He has learned how to greet guests at the door.
